Having been in several grief share groups in the last four years, really thought I probably didn't need this boot camp. Boy, was I wrong!! It was a fantastically awesome four days . . . it kicked my butt and was hard work. But I got rid of my old baggage and forgave the one one person that hurt me the most. The feeling was very euphoric. The directors do a wonderful job of walking and talking everyone through the forrest. The music is fabulous. I feel I was given a great gift from God by the friend who sponsored me. I recommend this boot camp to everybody and anybody, no matter where you are in your life.

Ok. My best advice is to take that marriage bootcamp seriously. My husband and I went, dealt with some things, went back home and seperated 3 months later. Yes, after 10 months, we are still married. BUT, we did not really deal with the issues of our marriage. We forgot what we learned almost as soon as we left. As I watch the bootcamp on t.v., I realize that we did not even come near facing problems like the featured couples did. I wish I could do it again. TAKE IT Seriously and DON'T Forget.

My husband and I have just concluded a true "life-changing" experience at the marriage seminar boot camp. We had reached the point after nearly two years of marriage, that things were so bad that we should either find help or split. Quite frankly I was in favor of the latter, thinking that I had tried hard enough already. We committed to all the activities, to the people in our small groups and to the whole larger group. David Bishop and Jim Carroll worked as hard if not harder than we did! Our trainers were right there to keep us straight when needed. My husband and I attended the Marriage boot camp in January of 2013 after being given a referral from a friend. This friend told me how much of an amazing difference this program had made not only in her marriage but in her life. The week before the program I just wanted to pack and leave our marriage. The pain that I experienced on a daily bases was too much to handle. I am now aware that I just wanted everything over; my marriage, my life, and the daily pain. On the first day I started crying on the drive to the program and continued to cry the entire first day, and was shocked to see that I was not alone. Everyone there was in similar daily pain just like me. The first day brought the realization that this was going to take 100% of my entire physical, mental, and emotional strength to get through to Saturday. The first day also brought the realization that everyone in that room was committed to helping us heal , and that gave all of us the strength to push forward. Over the course of the next three days and through numerous drills I became aware of the real problem in my life and our marriage. I went through a complete transformation that started with; “I have never talked about this and I’m not going to do it now” To: YELLING ABOUT IT; To: repeatedly talking about it; To: talking about it in front of over 100 people; To: letting it go for the first time in 40 years; To: today telling anyone who will listen. There is absolutely no set of circumstances that I can imagine occurring anywhere else that could duplicate what happened in that room on January 24, 2013. The love, respect, trust, caring, and forgiveness, that happened in that room not only changed me forever but also changed everyone involved. That day will remain as the single most important day of my life for the simple reason that without it I did not have a life. The past pain and trauma I had experienced had left me with a complete inability to trust and love not only myself but anyone else, including my husband and our four children. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that God led us there to heal our pain and help us accomplish what we were put here to do. There are so many people that carry pain around on a daily basis and if any of us can do or say anything to can help change their lives –we should. As a result of the Marriage Boot Camp I can actually SEE my husband now. His face, I am seeing for the first time ever. I no longer see my fathers face when I look at him. I’m forever blessed to see the beauty in everything he does and I realize now how much I have never really SEEN him before. I haven’t had a nightmare in weeks and I’m not as afraid to be home alone. All of the hatred, bitterness, and paralyzing fear, which I have carried for 40 years, is now gone. When I wake up in the morning I wake up with hope, happiness and a new found respect for Gods plan that is now obvious to me. Seeing the unimaginable change in everyone over the course of four days is nothing short of miraculous. God serves to remind us that he is with us as we watch the group participant’s facial features change, watch the glow coming from their eyes and the smile that seems to have no limitations. David Bishop, Dana Toney, Jim Carroll and all of the directors and trainers at Boot Camp are fulfilling Gods plan, and my life as well as the life of future generations of our family has been forever changed because of the willingness to carry out that plan. Special thanks to Mandy (one of my trainers) you walked me right through it and I love you always. My husband and I went into the bootcamp rating our marriage at most a "4". We came out with a "9". This was a last ditch effort and restoring our marriage. During the boot camp, I felt for the first time in my life actually loved by someone, my husband. This was the best thing we could have done for our marriage.

Many of us have never had anyone explain to us to a marriage relationship should be. I was always going of the example that my parents gave me. Men work hard to be the breadwinners. While the wife does the house chores and her volunteer work and as long as we are tolerant of each other; that is an OK marriage. What a relief to know that a relationship can be much more than that!
