New Series Helps Couples in Crisis Determine if they are Headed for Divorce or Ripe for a Healthy Relationship Turnaround
Silver Spring, Md. - What happens when the honeymoon ends and the pressures of children, finances and domestic chores set in? Any couple will tell you that maintaining a modern marriage is no fairytale. But for couples in real distress, TLC's new series MARRIAGE CAMP offers a chance for a "happily ever after."
Each episode of MARRIAGE CAMP follows two or three courageous couples on the verge of divorce as they make their way through The Marriage Boot Camp, an intensive four-day program designed to equip couples in crisis with the tools they need to rebuild and maintain healthy relationships. Drawing from over 13 years of experience, founder Jim Carroll and director David Bishop guide each husband and wife team through a series of interactive exercises that will ultimately determine whether they have what it takes to make their marriages work.
MARRIAGE CAMP cameras begin following the couples during the weeks leading up to the boot camp to find out how they feel about themselves, each other and their pending divorce. Using embedded camera crews and special "diary cams," the show offers unfiltered access to each couples' emotional journey.
Working from a tough-love approach, The Marriage Boot Camp featured in MARRIAGE CAMP forces spouses to confront themselves, each other, and their issues head-on. Through a specially designed combination of drills, role playing, group exercises, and intense interventions, couples are brought to the edge, yet most are ultimately empowered to overcome their resentments, abandon poor relationship skills, and begin the process of getting their marriages back on track.
Each episode of MARRIAGE CAMP culminates in an emotional ring ceremony where each spouse is forced to reveal their level of commitment to the relationship by simultaneously exchanging ring boxes. A ring in the box means that spouse is committed to staying together?¦no ring in the box signals that the marriage is over.
From passionless marriages to constant arguing, each couple featured in MARRIAGE CAMP faces issues that are unique and familiar at the same time. Some will choose to rebuild their relationships, while others will go their separate ways. Still, regardless of outcome, every participant in the series undergoes a life-changing experience that will help them in current and future relationships.
MARRIAGE CAMP is produced by BrainBox Productions, Inc. Nick Panagopulos is the executive producer for BrainBox Productions, Inc and Brooke Runnette is executive producer for TLC.
